Day 20

Today I pray that you would satisfy my hunger

Scripture: Matthew 5:6 “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.”

Hunger: Only Jesus can satisfy the hunger on the inside of us. When you’re hungry you’ll wake up and feast at his table, there you will be satisfied.

In Matthew 5:6, Jesus teaches a profound spiritual principle that emphasises the importance of hungering and thirsting for righteousness. In this teaching, we'll delve into the significance of this hunger and thirst, and the fulfilment it brings to our lives. The Desperate Hunger: "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness." This verse underscores the idea of an intense, even desperate, hunger and thirst for something beyond the physical. It speaks to a deep longing within our souls for righteousness, for a right relationship with God. Righteousness as God's Presence: Righteousness here is not just about moral uprightness but about being in the right standing with God. It's a desire for His presence, His guidance, and His holiness. This hunger and thirst signify a longing to be close to God and experience His transformative power in our lives. A Divine Satisfaction: The second part of the verse promises a remarkable outcome: "for they shall be satisfied." When we hunger and thirst for God's righteousness, we are promised fulfilment. This satisfaction is not fleeting but enduring. It is a deep sense of contentment and purpose that comes from being in right relationship with God. Let us pray: Heavenly Father, we come before You with hungry and thirsty hearts, longing for Your presence and righteousness. We recognize our deep need for You and the fulfilment that only You can provide. Fill us with Your Spirit and guide us in the paths of righteousness. May our hunger and thirst lead us to a closer and more intimate relationship with You. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
